Silk Press on Type 4 Hair

Yes Yes Yes, we got our hair silk pressed. This was baby girls first Salon experience, she had a blast. We wanted to share our experience and walk you through our day.

First of all, we were both pretty excited about someone else washing our hair, let's be honest there is nothing like laying back in that salon chair and getting a scalp massage.

We went to a salon called Coryn Beautique, LLC. We decided that I "TwistnCoils" would go first before we started any part of the process we discussed my hair and what style I was interested in and the color I wanted "YES color". I GOT COLOR for the first time in my 34 years, I know that seems crazy but its TRUE! Ok, enough rambling here is how it went, by this being my first-time getting color we decided to take it slow. The stylist really explained every step and made me feel comfortable with the whole process, now don't you love when you can lay back and let your stylist make magic. Hair is art to me, being a braider myself I enjoy seeing our work transform. On baby girls' hair we decided, to give her a deluxe silk press with soft curls and a much-needed trim. Although, I care for our hair really well it is always good to seek a professional for advice regarding the state of our coils. I mean really Youtube University is good, it's definitely a great place to go BUT a professionally skilled and trained individual in that area is a little safer in my opinion coming from a Youtuber herself!

Here is from start to finish:

The clip above pretty much sums up the process, we really enjoyed our experience and most of all we loved our hair. Now all and all this took a little over 4hrs for two silk press and color, I was amazed. We both had a lot of bounce and volume when we were done. I appreciate how informative my stylist was throughout this process. We cannot wait until our next silk press!!

Now let's open the discussion up I would love to hear your feedback on our new looks. I would also like to know your opinion on trimming, do you feel you effectively trim your hair in its natural state? Should you get a silk press to effectively trim your ends? I really believe we will be doing a silk press and getting a conditioning treatment every three months, sometimes just dusting those ends are not enough. Please weigh in, we would love to hear and thanks for being apart of the #CoilyGang
