For those of you that prefer to have more versatility but still protect your hair too, low manipulation styles will still help you retain length and give your hair a break. Low manipulation styles mean that once you have styled your hair, there should be light to no more manipulating the style. For this I mean maybe doing a roller set without heat allowing it to air dry and maybe over the course of that week you lightly without any combs other than to part and manipulate the hair to put in a loose style like a mohawk. I believe this definitely allows you to get a break from any damage by lightly manipulated your hair to achieve many different styles, to me this is very similar to protective styling. The main difference is normally with low manipulation styling your ends are exposed and you may end up manipulating your hair at some point during the week to create another look which is perfectly fine, especially during the warmer months.
